In 2005, the Aksharnandan School located in Pune, Maharashtra uses DC solar pumps to keep the premises spotless. Their application is simple. Pump the water to an overhead tank from an underground sump and subsequently use the water for cleaning. They replaced their old grid connected pump with a Solar Surface Pump which has helped cut down electricity costs for the school.
